Also ask Nicole to verify that my first love was tea. In fact, the first ever place that I could walk in and be asked if I wanted my regular* (which is a wonderful feeling) was at my neighborhood tea shop, Miro, in Ballard.
- Earl Grey de la Creme (my regular order, if you’re curious)
- Coconut Oolong
- Silver Needle
- Caramel Black
- Coconut Vanilla Black
- Earl of Lavender
If you live out of state, never fear: they do mail orders, too! Call them up and they’ll answer any question about tea you could ever think of, and make recommendations from their menu of over 200 teas. (I definitely called them the first month I was in NYC and feeling homesick. A few days later I had my two favorite teas in my dorm room with me, and an adorable handwritten note, because they’re just that nice.)
* Just ask all the parents of kids I nanny for, because, weirdly, they all have one!
** Pour overs, despite being the cool new hipster trend, is actually quite an old concept. My parents even have one, and they’re decidedly not cool hipsters. And yet I love them anyway. (My younger brother fills out the family Seattle hipster all on his own, lol.)
Note: this post isn't sponsored, I just seriously love Miro’s tea. Sit at the table in the front window, try a London Fog, and you’ll see what I mean.
